11-2

Changing from polar to rectangular is quite simple. The most common mistake when performing these problems is forgetting i, the imaginary number which goes at the end of the equation. The formula is as follows:
z=x +yi

Now, in order to get to this form when one is given Acis(theta).
You must first break down A into its respective components which are A cos theta
A sine theta
After you figure that out, you may then place the answers into the rectangular form equation above with the appropiate components for each answer.

Example:
5 cis 75
1. Break it up into its respective components
5 cos 75= 1.294 5 sin 75= 4.830
2. Plug this into your rectangular equation above.
z= 1.294+4.830i
(Don't forget to put the i at the end!)
